Since China have got 39 gold medals so far, why Liu Xiang is still important?
Because he was the first Asian man ever to win a gold medal in an Olympic track event in Athens 2004.
He was a suprise for Chinese, so it built up a huge expectation around him in Beijing Olympic 2008.
Another way to show how important he is for China. A recent Internet poll found that the Chinese citizenry’s No. 1 Olympic wish is for Liu to win gold. The Chinese Sports Ministry, which has three doctors dedicated to Liu’s well-being, apparently holds similarly high hopes. “Officials told us if Liu could not win a gold medal in Beijing, all of his previous achievements would become meaningless,” said Sun Haiping, Liu’s coach, to the press last year. Just how important is Liu to the Chinese nation? Well, an insurance company has valued his legs at $13.5 million.
This is another video made by his fan:
This isn’t Burt Reynolds car. There are so many gadgets seemless built into this Audi R8 that it blows our, and Alex Roy’s, mind. If there ever was a car built specificly for underground coast-to-coast high-speed racing, this is it. Kind of makes you wonder if it was built to beat Roy’s 31 hour, 4 minute New York to Santa Monica Pier run.
What we think is the Audi’s complete inventory:
- Liquid-cooled infrasonic wave pulse generator (Might be to disrupt the infrared laser and radar detector guns but we really don’t know)
- Four GPS units
- Uniden Police Scanner
- Valentine One Radar detector
- Rearview mirror Passport 9500 radar detector
- WiFi
- Tablet PC with Google Earth
- Dual Bluetooth GPS units
- Cobra CB Radio
- PA with full police sirens
- Take down lights
- Radar gun
- Laser speed detector gun
- Three SD video cams
- Switchable rear-lights
- Rear Strobe lights
- Remote control exhaust system
